Alex Monty Scholarship Fund
The Alex Monty Memorial Fund was established in June 2005, by Gerry and Charlotte Monty in conjunction with the Kelowna Minor Football Association, to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits of Kelowna Minor Football participants. Each year, The fund will award $1,000 in bursaries to Grade 12 students from Kelowna Minor Football.
The Alex Monty fund is to provide financial awards each year for the following
1. The Alex Monty Memorial Lineman Scholarship
To be given to any player with the following criteria:
Be an active member of the Kelowna Minor Football Association (KMFA) (including high schools) Playing the position of line on a regular basis, Be eligible for an accredited post secondary institution Must use the award within 2 years of their graduating year.
2. The Alex Monty Memorial Football Scholarship
To be given to any player with the following criteria:
Be an active member of the Kelowna Minor Football Association (KMFA) (including high schools), Be eligible for an accredited post secondary institution, Must use the award within 2 years of their graduating year.
What is Awarded?
The Alex Monty Memorial Fund will present individual $500 awards to two Grade 12 students that are active participants of Kelowna Minor Football. These funds are to be used by the individual, for post-secondary education. Winners will be notified in May of each year.
Who Can Participate?
The Alex Monty Memorial is open to all students attending Grade 12 in Kelowna who have not been through graduation commencement ceremonies in the past. The applicant must be registered as an active participant of the KMFA, either in the minor program, or be attending one of the high schools sponsored by the KMFA.
What is Required?
Students are asked to write a covering letter to demonstrate their financial need, as well as their passion for and dedication to the football.
